Fealty points will make confederations happen faster. Politics is pretty easy, try to liberate counts so your imperial authority doesn't go down too much and gain Fealty points from that as well. Confederate whenever possible, especially if you get the chance to confederate The Golden Order. Tech focus I'd say go for econ techs first, if you can afford the 7000 gold tech to get extra leadership against vampires - get it. Wipe out the armies, sack and then liberate cities from the vampires and give them back to elector counts so they build stuff there and put out some extra armies to distract vamps while you level up your lords. The AI will be attacking you more since they will think you have no armies but then you'll be ambushing them with an extra army from the garrison.
